Webcam Advisor
If you need pictures on your site from somewhere that has no ADSL/Broadband or other high
speed link...............Dont Panic! You can use a dial up internet connection in the same way
as you would for a normal FTP link. The difference is that it will cost you the price of your call
for each upload. So you dont want to be uploading images every 30 seconds with a dial up
connection. Very often Weather Cams and Surf Cams upload at hourly intervals or even
greater to give viewers an over all idea of conditions. This is very acceptable and works well,
after all the general weather conditions dont usually change that fast.
Using a Dial Up Connection for a Webcam
I hope this site is usefull to you and i am sure you will have great fun and lots of enjoyment in the wonderfull world of WEBCAMS.
CoffeeCup Webcam has an easy set up for dial up connections and i have tried it out with
great success. No modem locking up and no line holding costing me money. Of course a
fast link is much preferred but if you havent got one..............dont give up. Its still exciting
waiting to see what the next picture will look like and you can still use things like CCTV
cameras with a capture device for use outside.
Dial Up Connections
These can be used to great effect for
security if you want to know if
someone has gone into your room
or office and have no permanent
connnection.
The program will dial and upload the
images to your site to view later. But
remember to set your modem to dial
silently or the game will be up.
