Well now, one of the best uses for Webcams/Internet cameras is for security. From protecting
your home or office to having cameras showing at some remote location with a security guard
keeping an eye on things. You can also use the local or remote PC to record events to the
hard drive to play back later.......so your webcam program can also be used as a digital video
recorder!

You can use a standard webcam plugged into your PC with an ADSL/Broadband connection
or even a dial up connection and use say CoffeeCup Webcam to upload to your website and/or
email you with an alarm and an image when the camera detects movement in a particular
area. You can define the area within the screen that will detect movement so you can protect
a doorway or just one desk for example or just have an alarm when any movement is detected
in that area. You can set a time delay to let you leave the area before the camera becomes
active.

For mutiple cameras, streaming video and high quality disk storage, it is best to use the
Active webcam software. In our live pictures section you will see a streaming dome camera on
a security tour. This camera tours an industrial estate car park automatically. It is connected
via a USB Interface straight into the PC where Active Webcam stores the pictures to hard disk
and streams the video over the internet. It also FTP's the image every minute or so at the

professional security cameras as you like and monitor them in any way you need, direct
connection, website, email.........its up to you!
